first_imgIt was green, white, gold . . . and bays all over on Saturday.Spectators turned out in full force along Ponquogue Avenue and Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays for the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ 14th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. Longtime Hibernian and County Laois Irishman Grand Marshal Fergus Scully kicked off the festivities. The parade featured mainstays such as the Eastern Long Island Police Pipe and Drum Band of Southampton, as well as local dancing schools, community groups, and even a politician or two. UWF men’s golf ranks second in NCAA Division II

first_imgOctober 22, 2015 GOLFSTAT RANKINGSINDIANAPOLIS – The University of West Florida men’s golf team ranks second in NCAA Division II according to Golfstat’s rankings released earlier on Thursday. The ranking marks as the highest spot since the 2007-2008 academic year and is the third year in UWF men’s golf history that the team has earned the No. 2 spot. The 2007-2008 season is the last year West Florida won the NCAA Division II National Championship. West Florida only trails No. 1 Saint Leo in the poll. UWF has claimed two titles this year, taking the top spot at the Jay Jennison Memorial and the Patriot Intercollegiate. The UWF men’s golf team is one of five NCAA Division II programs to win two tournamentsin the 2015-16 school year. The Argos also claimed a runner-up position at the Guy Harvey Invitational on Oct. 13. Individual rankings are led by sophomores Henry Westmoreland (Wacissa, Fla./Florida State University School) and Chandler Blanchet (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) who are ranked 14th and 16th in the nation, respectively. Westmoreland claimed the first overall spot at West Florida’s first tournament of the year, the Jay Jennison Memorial, and owns    a 71 stroke average through the team’s first nine rounds. Westmoreland is ranked as the 11th best player in the South Region in addition to his national ranking. Blanchet has finished in the top 15 in all three of UWF’s tournaments this fall, highlighted by his effort at the Guy Harvey Invitational where he finished in a tie for third. Blanchet ranks as the eighth best player in the South Region and has posted a 72 stroke average through his first three tournaments. West Florida men’s golf resumes action on Oct. 26-27, when it heads to Orlando, Florida to partake in the McDonough Cup hosted by Rollins University at Rio Pinar Country Club. For information on all UWF athletics, visit #ARGOS#Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
