first_imgLocalNews Woman dies at Glasse Point by: – August 2, 2016 Share Share Share Tweetcenter_img Wendy ThomasThe police have confirmed the death of a forty-four year old female who was swept out at sea on Monday August 1, 2016.Police Public Relations Officer Pelham Jno. Baptiste in a report to the media on Tuesday August 2, 2016 said the deceased, Wendy Thomas of Glasgow, Fond Cole was among a group of eight at Glasse Point, Boetica.A number of individuals were swept away by the waves and “all but one made it back to shore”. The incident was reported to the police as occurring at about 1:30 p.m.The lifeless body of Miss Thomas was fished out of the sea about two hundred feet from the shoreline by the Marine Unit of the police force.“Wendy Thomas was examined and officially pronounced dead at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital by a medical doctor. A coroner’s inquest will be convened. Investigations are ongoing.”Meanwhile, April Philogene a female adult also of Fond Cole received injuries during the incident.She was treated at the La Plaine Health Center and referred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where she was examined, treated and discharged.“The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force extends deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late…Wendy Thomas, female adult of Glasgow Fond Cole,” Jno.
