Man United transfer update: De Gea odds-on to leave following Romero arrival

first_imgMark Bosnich has told talkSPORT Manchester United’s signing of Sergio Romero makes it odds-on David De Gea will leave Old Trafford this summer. The Red Devils confirmed on Monday morning they have signed the Argentine international, who was a free agent after leaving Sampdoria, on a three-year contract, and Bosnich insists that will have “red lights flashing” around Old Trafford as speculation continues over the future of De Gea, with Real Madrid keen to take him ‘home’.Former United goalkeeper Bosnich told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “The Romero deal tells us they [Manchester United] are not 100 per cent certain David De Gea is going to stay, and that they need quality back-up.“In Romero they’ve got that. He’s won a title in Holland with AZ Alkmaar and that’s where [Louis] Van Gaal knows him from, that’s where their relationship started. He played in the World Cup final [last year] and did very well for Argentina in the World Cup in Brazil.“He’s a quality goalkeeper and that tells us in flashing red lights they are nowhere near certain De Gea will stay. I’d say it’s now 40-60 against De Gea staying at Manchester United.“So they want to make sure they’ve got cover and there’s no last minute scramble if he does happen to go just before the window closes.”last_img read more
